If you actually sell something and the "standard" for that particular "shop" is Final Draft, then that's the time to buy it. There's free software and (much) cheaper software that will format a screenplay very well. My main issue with Final Draft is that too many people try to convince new writers that (for some unknown reason) they need to buy this (so-called) "standard" right off the bat. (I can try to look it up if you want me to.) "That doesn't work, we don't know when we'll get it fixed," was basically the response. I remember one incident dealing with collaboration when using another language. Maybe the support was quicker, but (in a couple cases anyhow) completely worthless. But I'm interested in screenwriting software and I've read about several instances of problems with Final Draft 11 on this sub-reddit.
